We will help you get started and will be with you as you learn to fly!

Getting started in flying model airplanes doesn't have to be a daunting task.  We here at the Upper Valley Fun Fliers strive to make each individuals learning experience fun and exciting.  There are so many ways to learn to fly with todays modern technology that there is little risk of costly losses.  The most important thing that one can do in learning is go out and buy a R/C simulator.  There are several available but for most of us here at UVFF we use Realflight G4.5 or earlier versions.  A simulator is a computer program that allows you to fly in a virtual world that simulates real world physics without the expense of crashing a real r/c plane because you are new to flying.

Here at UVFF we have also created a training night for all new and prospective members to come out and meet with an instructor, and even get real flight time with the club trainer.  We currently have several instructors who will help teach you how to fly. They will help with everything you will need to learn, to have a safe and fun learning experience.  We will teach you how to fly in a safe manner using the buddy box system.  This system uses two transmitters in tandem, one being a master that will be used by the instructor, and the other is a slave box that the new pilot will be in control of.  In this manner a student can learn to fly without worry of the loss of their plane as the instructor can take over complete control in a fraction of a second.

Once an instuctor feels that you are ready to begin flight training, you will be able to get some real time in the air.  Learning to fly R/C airplanes safely varies from pilot to pilot, but usually one can learn very quickly and begin the addiction.  Once you are comfortable in the air and have mastered basic flight you will be ready for your first solo.  Don't worry because your instructor will be standing next to your ready for anything you may need.  After your instructor believes you are ready to go on your own, you will have to demonstrate proficency in all aspects of flying.
